Welcome everyone to pontos fathom hobbies today we're going to do a setup of conan by monolith and we're going to play some solo rules so i'm going to try out the solo deck that i downloaded from board game geeks i printed it out and we'll there's another video that you can see that how i made the solo deck and set that up we've got the solo rules solo rule summary card and we're going to be playing the hunter hunting the tigress scenario so let's go ahead and set up in this video we'll do the setup and if you already familiar with the game setup you want to just skip to turn one you can check out the video down below in the link and we'll be doing that as a turn by turn so without further ado let's jump into the setup so first of all i've got all the components already out but i'll just kind of walk through the the setup for example when we set up the book of skelos here we're going to have the the green reserve zone and we're going to have the red fatigue zone or fatigue zone here and then we're going to have a recovery value we'll also put in the the the tokens for the movement benefit the guard benefit and the re-roll benefit.

For the setup i'll put those up at the top and then you could pla the overlord solo rules can allow us to place tokens onto that we're also going to set up the book of skelos activation costs so we'll just put one two three four five six seven eight so we'll have the eight activation costs there and i think that's a good enough setup before we get to the actual gameplay we are going to do the hunting the tigris gameplay so we'll set this up and we'll read through that i'm also have gonna do another solo play through using a second set of solo rules so i'm going to do in the clutches of the picks using the the solo rules for that came with the monolith source book so we'll we can walk through that one in a separate video so this is the hunting the tigers one using the solo cards and we'll focus on that here today okay so let's read this intro it says:

"for months the pirate ship tigress has been scouring the waters off the coast of stygia in the black kingdoms and praying on the profitable trade of golden ivory much to this pleasure of king cesspon as the stygian fleet seems unable to put an end to the piracy the king has promised a colossal sum to whomever can bring back baylet's head but with billet's vessel anchored to resupply a large portion of the crew on shore zapporavo the zingaran captain of the vandal takes the opportunity to attack in hopes of claiming the enormous reward and the glory that accompanies it supported by a row of archers and the black magic of scothus a stygian necromancer sent by stespn the zingaran mercenaries and his troops quickly gain a foothold on the decks of the tigris only conan shivitas and a handful of remaining warriors can come to bel it's aid." 

okay so that's the back story for the hunting the tigress sounds exciting winning the game if if zapparovo and scothus are dead at the end of round eight billet survives the attacks the heroes win the game and we will track the turns on the turn card the double-sided equally sided turn card also we'll place a turn token on turn zero here so we'll set that up turn token for turn zero okay we will go with the four hero setup so we're gonna do bellet conan shivitas and hydrothis so we've got their cards here to set up we've got shivitas conan hydrothis and bellitt's card so we will set those up at the top row here i can put cone in here in the center shivitas here to the right billet in hydrothis so we'll just reference those at the top i think those will be in view of the camera too so how does it look yeah as long as you don't shake the camera yeah looks good okay so next step is we're gonna have four heroes so the overlord will start with ten gems in their reserve zone and four gems in their fatigue zone so these are the red gems are for the overlord and these are 10 gems for to go in the reserve stone reserve zone 2 4 6 8 10 and then four one two three four go into the fatigue zone so they have a total of 14 gems and they also get to set the book of skelos recovery value recovery token to seven so the recovery tokens are here we've got a three a five recovery token seven that means they get back seven per turn recovery token goes here in the center that will regulate their recovery you can see from the setup here that we've got the different hard cards here.

i've got bellits guards as well i'm just going to put this off to the side with bellit so we can keep track of their attacks we also have the outer demon which is in play let's just leave him to the side for now because we cover him with the with the reinforcement glory card here so so let's see we have red pirates we've got purple pirates brown pirates green pirates blue pirates so we can place these four and then we have the archers the bosonian archers are in place two so place them in place too then we'll place three pirates with different colors and then we will place the special card and then separato and scutthus also can be placed in position seven eight so we've got the full book of skelos set up the other supplemental rule is we'll be using these summary ai cards like i mentioned earlier these are got these from board game geeks did a minor customization to them with just did some shading some weathered looking shading so we'll give these a quick shuffle and these will be the ai for our deck and we can place these cards just off to the side here and we'll use those in conjunction with the solar roll summary card okay we'll take care of that on turn one next setup we have to do is look for some items for conan billet shivitas and hydrothis so let's just go through their suggestions for three heroes here so hydrathis gets a a dagger so we'll kind of go through these here's the dagger for hydrathis dagger for hydrathis bellet gets the ornamental lance so let's look for her ornamental lance here's the ornamental lens then she also gets the tribal shield tribal shield and then conan gets a sword just simply sword it says not the conan sword so he gets a sword so it's kind of a little bit weaker for him then he gets leather armor then shivitas gets the chris and throwing knives so we can throwing knives and the chris okay so that's those guys set up so let's take a quick look at them as we equip them so we've got conan here conan he is getting his leather armor and sword we'll just place these here billet gets her tribal shield ornamental lance hydrathis gets his dagger and shibutas gets his knives and his crisps okay and then hydrate this also gets his spells he gets gift of life mitra's halo and boris rage so let's look at his three spells are mitra's halo gift of life and [Music] boris rage and we can go through those when they when it comes to his turn we can review these in detail but for now i think we're good so place those spells there okay so next in the setup we have to place some chests and some reinforcement points so we've got these two reinforcement points and they're using these flames to recogni to mark them so let's just keep those aside those tokens aside and then we also have these chests so we have five chests and the chest set up will include five chests with three life potions one explosive orb and one crossbow so one two three four five we'll get those put aside and we will get the spells out or the items out for those so we have three life potions one two two life potions so far an explosive orb and a crossbow okay and there's another life potion but i don't have one so let's maybe it's in this deck i would just put another potion in there and just call it the life potion if i'm missing that card okay so i'll just use this as a life potion as well so we've got three so we've got this deck set up as well and i will just put the chest deck to the side here as well okay so next we have to set up the players so we've got the dice and we have so let's let's pass out our coin here so we need to have 10 for shibatas 2 4 6 8 10 10 gems and then two 4 6 8 10 11 gems and i don't know if you've noticed but i i mentioned in my other video that i bought these fish tank plastics and to have some extra gems because it seems we were running out and they are indistinguishable for the conan monolith gems so two four six if you guys lose some or need more for your gameplay or you have campaign play and have much more need for more health or more players i recommend you go online and look for these i bought 150 of these for like two dollars so four six eight ten two four six eight ten and then nine for billet two four six seven eight nine okay nine per minute ten for hydro trothas okay so they've got their gems set up and final placement here we can put the characters on the board so let's start out with we will put a conan is here here we'll put our captain zaparavo he can go here this point we will put three pirates we'll use blue pirates as they're indicated here one two three we will put crossbowmen in the back row here so two in each space so there's two cross i mean sorry two archers four archers set up here and we also have to put the chests one chest with these archers and one chest with the adjacent space here so we've got those two chests set up and then we have placing the reinforcements over these hatches so the stairs and the hatch this is where the reinforcements will pop up from we also have a few more another faction of pirates we can use these golden ones these faction of pirates will be in this space and scutthas the wizard is here with his painting on the ship deck kind of ominous looking next we will have the setup of bellit bellet here is set up in the back of this ship and her guards are three with her defending her and then two sort of on the attack here in the next frame and heroes start in area one and these are reservists so we can move these off as reserve so i'll move these off to the side there from our reserve pool oh no we got a few more to set up so we'll set those up in a bit the outer demon comes later and all the heroes start in space one so hydrauthus shivithas and conan start here and then i need to put one two three four five six seven eight set up eight more pirates so we'll do three three like this three like this so we've got six and then we're gonna start at seven 8 and then just two extra ones one on each of these spots so there's already some pirate forces coming across so we kind of get the picture pirates have already jumped across the billets guards are guarding her the heroes are at the front of this vessel and that's the about the setup here so so let's let's wrap it up here and just mentioning that i'm going to probably do some on my other channel poltas fathom press i'm going to do some robert e howard work on that channel i'm going to have a podcast dedicated to robert e howard and some of the works of roberty howard and some of the strange tales of howard
